“An Ode to thousand years”
It’s quite tough to imagine a building in such a setting which contains the history of thousand years. To place a volume, a form, to imagine a surface or any proportions for Tehran in that way a challenge for any architect / designer. Each construction job is a frozen epitaph of time, the evidence of history, expression of past and present culture and chronological development of technology. Every building is the sensitive container of human life and activities. It is not a very past that the gardens and architecture of this region inspire the builders of other part of the world. The fantasy of hanging garden still takes away to the dreamland. In this subsonic era we lost the classics. The craftsmanship, the music, the literature all has been lost with the dumb exchange of blind industrialization.
Thanks to Benetton group to place the opportunity to rethink of these roots and to question ourselves are we really doing better than our ancestor? What should we build with the knowledge of thousands of years of construction heredity? Fashion – a living manifesto of time. All the vibration of time is absorbed by fashion, which is always changing, self-questioning, rebuilding – like a living being. It is like a continuous process.
At the design development phase for this project, following issues were tried to consider with our limited naïve knowledge.
